Technogym launches “Casa Technogym” pop up wellness centre on Ipanema beach to celebrate Rio 2016 campaign

Technogym, Official Supplier of the Games, gets Rio moving in open air gym on one of the world’s most famous beaches, Ipanema

Casa Technogym is an innovative wellness space on Ipanema beach created by Technogym, the Italian company and official supplier of gym equipment to the Olympic Games. The citizens and visitors of Rio will have the opportunity to train like an Olympic athlete at Casa Technogym by taking part in group training activities and personally contributing to the social campaign ‘Let’s Move for Rio’.

Technogym’s commitment to the Rio 2016 Olympics goes far beyond the company’s role as Official Supplier and aims to contribute to the legacy that the Olympic movement wants to leave after the Games. Technogym recently launched the highly acclaimed “Let’s Move for Rio” social campaign that will see some of the equipment provided to the Olympic training facilities donated to the city of Rio following the games. Via the Technogym digital platform, the Mywellness cloud, athletes and wellness enthusiasts worldwide will be able to measure their physical exercise – both on the equipment and on the free Technogym mobile app – transforming their moves into equipment that Technogym will donate to 22 public gyms in Rio’s most disadvantaged communities.

In Rio, Technogym will equip 15 centers for the athletes to train prior to and during the Olympic Games. The main training center (approximately 2000 sq. meters) located at the Olympic Village in Barra da Tijuca, will be open to all athletes taking part to the Games and will be equipped with a wide range of products in order to cover the athletic preparation needs of every sport discipline. The other 14 training centers will be located at additional competition venues and specifically designed for the athletic preparation needs of the different disciplines. A total number of around 1200 piece of equipment will be made available to the 10.500 athletes, coming from 205 different countries and performing in 42 different disciplines. Moreover, Technogym will provide a team of 50 professional athletic trainers to support the athletes as well as all related services (gym layout, installation and technical service). Rio 2016 represents the sixth Olympic experience after Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Turin 2006, Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
