Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa has announced a new era of wellness with a fully upgraded Technogym powered gym, designed to sit at the heart of its premium guest and member experience. The new facility offers advanced fitness solutions, intelligent technology, and beautiful design to create a relaxing and motivating training environment.
The historic Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa in Wiltshire has undergone significant transformation, becoming one of the UK’s leading destination spa and wellness hotels. Set in 36 acres of historic landscape gardens and riverside, the hotel encourages a holistic approach to wellbeing that includes nature, spa, and fitness.

A New Chapter For Bishopstrow
Since acquiring Bishopstrow Hotel five years ago, the team has invested in enhancing the guest experience, including refurbished rooms and public spaces, and new features in the grounds and gardens.
The Bishopstrow estate has always offered opportunities to reconnect with nature and the upgraded facilities build on that heritage. The latest phase focuses on wellness, with a new Technogym gym and expanded outdoor spa garden strengthening the hotel’s position as a destination for relaxation, recovery, and wellbeing.
“Our vision is to create a place that seamlessly blends exceptional hospitality with a real sense of wellbeing and connection with nature,” said Jonathan. “Everything we do is designed to help guests slow down, reconnect with themselves, and leave feeling better than when they arrived.”

Creating a Premium Hotel Gym
The gym expansion and refurbishment has created a luxury environment that feels like an expansion of the hotel and its gardens. The space is a masterclass in design, using materials, lighting, colours, planting, and sound to create a calm and relaxing but unmistakably premium environment.
After Technogym were chosen as partners for the project, Technogym Sand Stone Collection was the first equipment choice. The beautiful Sand Stone pieces became central to the gym’s aesthetic, with the colour reflecting the natural tones of the Wiltshire landscape.

Innovation to Enhance Member Experience
Technogym digital solutions were part of Bishopstrow’s vision for a more personalised fitness experience. Technogym Checkup was introduced as an early touchpoint, its advanced health data and AI-powered insights making advanced health assessments accessible and giving members greater autonomy over their training.
“Technogym Checkup has been really well received because it brings a new dimension to our member experience,” said Jonathan. “It allows us to offer our guests something new and innovative that feels very comfortable to use.”
Technogym Visio adds flexibility to the expanded gym space, allowing users to access Technogym content and choose workouts that match their goals. The Technogym App has also supported the digital member journey, with 60% adoption so far.

Technogym brought extended support to the project, advising on design, layout, digital integration, and the member journey, ensuring the new technology and environment worked together to benefit members and guests.
Ahead of opening, Technogym master trainers delivered three days of inductions, introducing members to Technogym Checkup and the new solutions.
“Technogym have been excellent to work with throughout, from design advice to member support and marketing,” said Jonathan. “Having everything delivered through one partner made a project of this size much easier, and it was definitely the right decision for Bishopstrow.”

Feedback since the gym opened has been overwhelmingly positive, with guests describing the gym as one of the best hotel fitness facilities they’ve ever seen, and Club Bishopstrow members feeling more motivated to use the space.
The upgrade has encouraged more spa members to add the gym into their routines, demonstrating the impact of creating an environment where people enjoy spending time.
