The countdown has started: one year to Rio 2016. Technogym will be Official Supplier for the 6th time.

The company has signed an exclusive-supplier contract for the first Olympics in history to take place in South America.

Technogym has signed an exclusive-supplier contract as the official fitness equipment supplier for all athletic preparation centres for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Internationally recognised as setting the standard in athletic preparation, rehabilitation and wellness technology, Technogym celebrates its sixth Olympic partnership after Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Turin 2006, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. In Rio, Technogym will provide a full range of equipment for the main training centre (approximately 2000 sqmt) at the Olympic Village in Barra da Tijuca open to all athletes taking part to the Games, and will equip 15 centres complete with warm up areas specifically designed for the different disciplines at the competitions venues.

Technogym is expected to supply 1,000 pieces of equipment and install Mywellness cloud digital platforms, enabling athletes to connect directly to the equipment with their individual training program from a mobile device. Moreover, Technogym will provide a team of 50 professional athletic trainers to manage the preparation centres and support the athletes as well as all related services (gym layout, installation and technical service).

Nerio Alessandri, President and Founder of Technogym said: “We are very proud to have been chosen for the sixth time as the official supplier of the Olympic Games. This important achievement represents a victory for the whole Technogym team and a strong reference on our product innovation and quality standards” adding “Rio 2016 will also represent a unique social opportunity to promote wellness in Brazil and across the whole of Latin America helping to get increasing numbers of people interested in physical exercise. In Rio Technogym will bring not only the best products and technologies,  but also a social commitment. We are defining now the details of the social campaign we will launch next autumn, but we have already agreed with the Organizing Committee and the City of Rio that the 50% of the equipment we will deliver for the Olympic training facilities will stay in Rio after the games and will be donated to local schools in order to promote wellness in the new generation”

Rio 2016 Organizing Committee President Carlos Nuzman commented, “The needs of the athletes are always at the forefront of our thinking and so ensuring we have top of the range equipment available for their use is vital. We are going to work together over the next months.
