The company signed an exclusive-supplier contract for the first Olympics in history to take place in South America
Technogym signed an exclusive-supplier contract as fitness equipment supplier for all athletic preparation centres for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
For Technogym, internationally recognised as setting the standard in the sector of technologies for athletic preparation, rehabilitation and wellness, this is the sixth Olympic experience after Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Turin 2006, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. In Rio, Technogym will provide a full range of equipment for the main training centre (approximately 2000 sqmt) at the Olympic Village in Barra da Tijuca open to all athletes taking part to the Games, and will equip 15 centres and warm up areas specifically designed for the different disciplines at the competitions venues such as the Aquatics centre, the Olympic golf course and the Tennis centre amongst others.
A total number of around 1000 pieces of the best training equipment will be made available, fully integrated with the Mywellness cloud digital platform enabling the athletes to stay connected to their own personal training programme directly on the equipment itself and via their mobile devices.
In the gym areas, athletes will find cutting-edge solutions such as the new SKILLMILL, designed for Athletic Performance Training, the only non-motor-driven functional training product which merges power, speed, stamina and agility exercises in one solution. They will also be able to train on Excite line products, a complete range of cardiovascular equipment (treadmills, exercise bikes, cross-trainers) featuring UNITY, the latest generation Android interface, designed to ensure an intuitive, engaging and personalised workout experience. To complete the array of equipment, Kinesis, with Technogym’s patented technology, will allow athletes to explore the freedom of 360° movement to accomplish exercises aimed at improving balance, flexibility and posture; plus a complete set of products for strength and power training.
Moreover, Technogym will provide a team of 50 professional athletic trainers to support the athletes as well as all related services (gym layout, installation and technical service).
Technogym has always worked very closely with the most famous international teams and athletes to accompany them in the preparation for the competitions. Some of the best Olympic champions are training with Technogym to participate to the games in Rio: Rafael Nadal, international tennis star who has just built his tennis academy equipped with the latest Technogym products, Carlotta Ferlito, the young Italian gymnast already winner of one silver and two bronze medals at London 2012; Elisa Di Francisca, fencing’s renowned defending champion, thanks to the gold medal won in London; Gregorio Paltrinieri, current 1500 metres freestyle world record holder; Sanya Richard-Ross, Jamaican-American track and field athlete specialising in the 400 metres and London 2012 Olympic champion.
Nerio Alessandri, President and Founder of Technogym said: “We are very proud to have been chosen for the 6th time as the official supplier of the Olympic Games. This important achievement represents a victory for the whole Technogym team and a strong reference on our products innovation and quality standards” adding “Rio 2016 will also represent a unique social opportunity to promote wellness in Brazil and in the whole Latin America and to get increasing number of people interested in regular physical exercise”.
